KVK, Maulasar (Nagour II ) is an extension based agricultural institute established by the ICAR under the jurisdiction of Agriculture University, Jodhpur, to promote farmers for adoption of recent technical knowhow in agriculture and allied fields. The kendra was established on 2012 at village Maulasar which is 120 km away from district head quarter on Dhankoli Dabda road with the acquisition of 20.0 ha land. The activities of this Kendra are being planned and executed under the technical and administrative support of Directorate of Extension Education, AU, Jodhpur. The goal of KVK is to have sustainable growth in productivity and income of agriculture and allied sectors which can be obtained by bridging the time lag between technology generation at the research institution and its transfer to the farmer’s field. Krishi Vigyan Kendra has multidisciplinary team of scientists who work enthusiastically in missionary spirit for under taking vocational training for farmers, farm women, rural youths and extension functionaries to update them with recent and proven agricultural research. KVK also involves in assessment and refinement of technology through on farm testing and front line demonstrations.

 

Mandates

 

  1. Organize short term and long term vocational training courses in agricultural and allied sectors for farmers and rural youths with the emphasis on learning by doing for higher production on farms and generating self employment.
  2. Conducting on farm testing for identifying technologies in terms of location specific sustainable land use system.
  3. Organize trainings to update the extension personnel with emerging advances in agricultural research on regular basis.
  4. Organize front line demonstrations on various crops on proven technologies to generate production data and feed-back information.
  5. Work as resource and knowledge centre of agricultural technology for supporting initiatives of public, private and voluntary sector for improving the agricultural economy of the district.

 

Thrust Areas

 

  1. Dissemination of dry land technology for pearl millet, pulses and other kharif crops through recommended varieties, INM and IPM.
  2. Reclamation of problematic soils and use of soil amendments particularly gypsum and green manuring by Dhanicha.
  3. Crop diversification from conventional crops to seed spices and medicinal crops like cumin, fennel, azwain and isabgol for better returns.
  4. To popularize improved varieties of arid legumes like moong, moth and guar through FLD and seed production.
  5. To increase milk production by better management and feeding of milch animals, selection of improved breeds and providing good hygienic conditions.
  6. To organize long duration skill oriented training programme for entrepreneurship development.
  7. To motivate the farming community about the organic farming.
  8. Introduction of improved and hybrid varieties of vegetables, their package of practices and establishment of new fruit orchards and hi-tech horticulture.
  9. Post harvest techniques for arid fruits.

District Profile

Nagaur district is situated in Western part of Rajasthan between 260 25’ to 27040’ North latitude and 730 18’ to 750 15’ East longitude. Nagaur district falls under agro climatic zone II-A called as transitional plans of inland drainage. It covers an area of 17778 sq. km. out of which 17448.5 sq. km is rural area and 269.5 sq. km is urban. The Nagaur district is bounded on the north by Bikaner and Churu districts, on the east by Sikar and Jaipur districts, on the south by Ajmer, and Pali districts and on the west by Jodhpur districts. There are 13 tehsil headquarters in the district viz. Nagaur, Khinwsar, Jayal, Degana, Didwana, Ladnun, Parbatsar, Makarana, Nawa, Kuchaman, Riyanbadi and Mundwa. The district is divided into 14 blocks (Panchayat Samitis) viz. Nagaur, Khinvsar, Mundwa, Jayal, Merta, Riyan, Degana, Didwana, Molasar, Ladnun, Parbatsar, Makarana, Nawa and Kuchaman. Out of which 7 Panchayat samitis Didwanan, Degana, Molasar, Parbatsar, Makarana, Nawa and Kuchaman are under jurisdiction of this KVK i,e; Nagour II.

The Krishi Vigyan Kendra celebrate and conduct awareness programme on International Yoga day (21st June), World food day (16th October), World soil day celebration (5th December) during each year. Also conduct two preseasonal training programme, SAC meeting and other awareness programme for farmers, Farm women and Rural youth during every year.
